We Are Not Angels: Adjustments

She awoke to the sound of daily routine. The coffee machine called to the men in the spacious room. The shower hummed and pattered as the water poured from
its head. "When did I get here? Uncle Sniper sang me to sleep, but I don't know when I got here! Wha..? How did I get into this nightgown?! Oh no.." The tears welled
up in her eyes as she released her pent up confusion and fear.

"Gah!" Medic ran out with a towel tied tightly around his waist. "D don't cry frauline! Oh, dear.. Heavy! Heavy, get in here!"

Glancing at his half covered body, she felt more worry and embarrassment. Like an armadillo, she curled up in a ball and screamed louder.

"Please! Please stop zee screaming!" He smiled awkwardly as he tried to calm her down.

"Doktor! What made you think that was good idea?! Heavy will take care of this."

"Vhat?! She screamed like Wütender Nachtkrapp! I vas just trying to calm her down! Augh! Fine.. Es tut mir leid, mein armes kleines Kind. I did not mean
to frighten you." He patted her back as he grabbed his clothes and slunk into the bathroom.

Heavy lifted the child, who was still curled up in a ball. "Do not be scared little princess. I am your Uncle Heavy! Mr. Spy told us to watch you from now on.
That was Doktor! Everyone calls him Medic, but Heavy likes to call him Doktor. Uncle Medic is sorry he scared you. He just doesn't know too much about
caring for children, like you."

There was something soothing about the way the Russian man spoke. His threatening exterior was only a shell around his caring core. Sensing it was safe, she
relaxed her muscles and looked into the warm blue eyes of the man holding her. The smile didn't seem to fit the bulging muscles and gold bullets slung around
his chest and rounded stomach. A smile replaced her horrified expression as she began to laugh.

"Ah, there is pretty smile! Heavy is sorry you were frightened. He wanted to tell you last night, but you were sleeping. Doh ho ho! Heavy nearly forgot!
You are starting school today while we work! Do not worry though, Heavy heard Miss Pauling is nice assistant to Administrator."

Medic tried to sneak past his giant companion and the child. "Mein Got.. Please don't scream.. Just go by quickly.."

"Ah! Doktor! Heavy was just telling little girl that she starts school today! Show our little princess to the bathroom, da? Heavy needs sandvich!"

"Scheisse", he whispered under his breath.

"Doktor! Watch your mouth!"

"Ja, ja. Sorry frauline. I'll show you how zee shower vorks and vhat you can and, absolutely, CANNOT use."

She looked over at his flustered expression and began to wonder why they would keep things in the bathroom that were never supposed to be there from the start.
